Frequently Asked Questions
Printing, scaling recipes, nutrition, substitutions and more.
Answers to the questions readers ask us most. Can’t find yours? Ask us.
Are the recipes on Recipes Dad free?
Yes. Every recipe, recipe card and kitchen tool is free to use. The site is supported by advertising, which is always labelled and kept separate from the recipes.
How do I print a recipe?
Press the <b>Print</b> button on the recipe card (or “Print recipe” near the top of the page). Only the recipe card is printed — no ads, no photos except the small one on the card.
Can I change the number of servings?
Yes. Use the + and − buttons next to “Servings” on the recipe card. The ingredient quantities update automatically. Cooking times and pan sizes do not scale in a straight line, so check the notes and start checking for doneness early.
What is cook mode?
Cook mode keeps your phone or tablet screen from going to sleep while you cook. Turn it on from the recipe card; it switches off when you leave the page.
Is the nutrition information accurate?
Nutrition values are estimates per serving, calculated from typical ingredients. They change with brands, substitutions and portion size. If you follow a medical diet, please check with your doctor or a registered dietitian. See our <a href="/disclaimer/">disclaimer</a>.
Can I substitute ingredients?
Usually, yes. Most recipes include swaps in the tips and notes. Baking is less forgiving than cooking, so substitute one ingredient at a time and expect small differences in texture.
How should I store leftovers?
Cool food quickly and refrigerate within two hours. Most cooked dishes keep 3–4 days in an airtight container. Reheat leftovers to 165 °F (74 °C). Each recipe has its own storage notes.
Do you test the recipes?
Recipes are written for home kitchens and reviewed for clear quantities, logical steps and safe temperatures before they are published. When readers report a problem, we review and update the recipe.
Are the photos real?
Some of the food images on Recipes Dad are created or enhanced with AI image tools to show what the finished dish looks like. They illustrate the recipe; your dish may look a little different.
Can I share or republish a recipe?
You are welcome to share a link or pin a recipe to Pinterest. Please do not copy the full recipe text or photos onto another website; a short description with a link back is fine.
How do I contact you?
Use the <a href="/contact/">contact form</a> or email <a href="mailto:contact@recipesdad.com">contact@recipesdad.com</a>. We usually reply within two business days.
